Asian Games | Winning singles medal won’t be cakewalk, believes Prakash Padukone

India’s only ever singles medal in b💯adminton was won by Syed Modi in 1982. The Indians this time around with the likes of PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, Kidambi Srikanth and HS Prannoy, would be eager to break the 36-year-old record.

Padukone mentioned that the tournament won’t be easy for India’s star🐬 shuttlers this time around considering the fact that most of the top badminton playing nations are in Asia.

“It will be tough for the Indians to 🧜win a medal in the Asian Games because most of the top badminton playing nations are in Asia and all of them are preparing well for this mega event,” Padukone said.

The 63-year-old further stated that the preparation phase will be difficult for any player considering the Asian Games being held so close to the Wor𓂃ld Championship. He concluded by backing the Indian players and stated that winning🧸 the medal is tough but not impossible.

“It’s (Asian Games 2018) also happening so close to the World Championship, so it’s difficult for any player to prepare for 🐼such important events. However, it won’t be an impossible task if the players peak at the right time,” Padukone concluded.
