‌SL vs IND | Twitter in splits as Rohit Sharma caught unfiltered in stump mic classic

Few things never change in sport and Rohit Sharma’s stump mic sp🐈ecials could be one of those evergreen moments in cricket’s annals. The Indian skipper was heard at his classic best while regulating on-field decisions as Sri Lanka squared off against India in the first ODI in Colombo.

The decision to field first backfired for Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka as the Indian bowlers capitalised on the bowling-friendly overcast conditions, reducing the opposition to 101/5 in 27 overs. Ten balls later, Washington Sundar created a chance of another dismissal before Rohit refused to go upstairs falling out of shreds of evidence from the bowler and the wicketkeeper, of which the discussion was caught on stump mic.

Sundar bowled a fuller delivery right on the money that Dunith Wellalage tried to defend after prodigy on the front foot. KL Rahul, behind the stumps, and Rohit at first slip, joined Sundar in the appeal for the lbw that the onfield umpire denied. While there was a brief discussion of going upstairs with a review, Rohit was caught unfiltered reprimanding Sundar in his cheeky way. The 37-year-old heard,” You tell me, mereko kya dekh raha he, sab kuch mai hi karu” (You tell me, why’re you gazing at me, should I do everything?). The replays showed the ball thudding the willow, and India survived losing a review as they didn’t go upstairs. However, nothing stopped the Twitterverse to continue relishing Rohit and his stump mic specials.
