‌SL vs IND | Twitter and Pant surprised at Rohit Sharma’s Sinhalese pep talk to Axar

Winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Sri Lanka got off to an impressive start, courtesy of Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando’s 89-run opening partnership. The pair almost milked their way to the 20th over before Axar Patel got the breakthrough by inducing a top-edge after the drinks break. Notably. Axar’s toil was thoroughly backed by skipper Rohit from behind the stumps as the stump mic caught him encouraging the bowler in Sri Lanka’s local language.

Following six overs of pace, Axar was introduced in the attack against the Sri Lankan pair. It was reported that Rohit learned a few Sinhalese phrases from the locals during the tour. However, applying it in real-time during a live match left the Twitterverse in splits.
