The decision is considered a significant step towards Ishan Kishan’s full return to first-class cricket. According to reports, Kishan opted to join the red-ball tournament and was included after notifying the Jharkhand State Cricket Associat🦩ion (JSCA).
Previously, Kishan's return to domestic cricket was facilitated by guidelines set by the selectors. His decision to rejoin the domestic circuit seems to have been influen🐽ced by supporters and national selectors who warned that neglecting domestic play could threaten his international career at a c🐷ritical juncture.
The wicketkeeper-batter has not plওayed any red-ball cricket since his debut Test series in the Caribbean last July. Kishan made his Test debut during India's tour of the West Indies, stepping in while Rishabh Pant was recovering from injuries sustained in a car accident in December 2022. The second Test of that tour in July 2023 remains Kishan’s most recent first-class match. He was selected for the 2023-24 South Africa tour but withdrew from the squad citing mental fatigue.
Kishan held a Grade C contract by BCCI until losing it this year. He has played two Test matches, 27 ODIs, and 32 T20Is for India till date. He was also a p☂art of India's squad that reached the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup and played two matches as an opener.
