As per a Cricbuzz report, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is in a hurry to come up with an alternative solution to stage the T20 World Cup. They were supposed to announce 🐠it by August 15 but the BCB has requested a f꧋ew extra days before making a final call. It is learnt that the ICC’s final verdict is likely to come on August 20.
Previouslyꦺ, India and Sri Lanka were seen as the possible countri⛎es to host the mega-event but Jay Shah’s recent statement ruled out the latter’s chance of serving as an alternative option.
They (ICC) have asked us if we would conduct the World Cup. I have categorically said no. We're in the monsoon and on t🌟op of that we will host the women's ODI World Cup next year. I don't want to give any kind of signals that I want to hold consecutive ﷽World Cups," Shah said.
In the meantime, UAE have stood up as the top contender to host the event due to their exquisite infrastructure and features. Previously, they hosted the 2021 T20 World Cup which was scheduled to be in India where dew played a massive role in dictating the outcomes of matches. Besides the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), governing bodies in Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka are keen toꦆ host the event as well.
The ten-teaꦇm tournament is scheduled to slate from October 3 with the grand finale to be played on October 20. The warm-um matches are slated to begin on September 27. With approximately 50 days in hand, the ICC have a tough task ahead in front of them.
