ICC World T20 | Twitter reacts as Sanju Samson squanders another opportunity with a poor dismissal against Bangladesh

It's unfortunate for any batter to fall cheaply at the outset of a World Cup encounter and get another golden opportunity. Such was the case for Sanju Samson during India’s warm-up clash against Bangladesh at Nassau County where he was undone by a masterful in-swinger from Shoriful Islam.

‌The newly built Nassau County Stadium in New York buzzed with anticipation as it hosted its inaugural match. India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first, opening the innings alongside Sanju Samson. Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto entrusted Mahedi Hasan with the ball for the opening over. The 29-year-old bowler impressed, conceding just five runs. However, the excitement was short-lived for Samson in the next over by Shoriful Islam.

On the fifth ball of the second over Shoriful delivered a length ball to the Kerala batter. The ball swung inwards upon pitching catching Samson off guard. Aiming to drive it towards the on-side, Samson misjudged the line and length resulting in the ball striking his pad in front of the middle and leg stump. Shoriful's🌌 swift appeal was up🌃held by on-field umpire Chris Brown and with no DRS available Samson had to walk back after scoring a mere one run in six deliveries.

The Twitterverse was quick to criticize Samson’s poor performance, with social ꦯmedia abuzz with reactions to hisꩵ early dismissal.

 Sanju departs!
