India beat England by a couple of wickets in the second T20I to take a lead of 2-0 in the five-match𓂃 series. Tilak Varma’s valiant 55-ball 72* doused Brydon Carse’s three-fer and Jos Buttler’s 45 by⭕ snatching victory from the jaws of defeat in a humdinger at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

Like the first T20I, Suryakumar Yadav decided to field first, aiming to capitalize on the dew later. His new-ball bowlers, Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya were brilliant, getting Phil Salt early, followed by Washington Sundar removing Ben Duckett in a 58-run powerplay. The 33-run stand between Jos Buttler and Harry Brook concluded after Varun Chakaravarthy got the young gun for the second time in the series. Three overs later, Buttler lost his wicket for 45 runs setting up 78 runs in ten overs. The English middle order crumbled against quality spin but their attacking nature steered the scoreboard to 137/7 in 16 overs. It was Brydon Carse’s 17-ball 31 that kept them going but a run-out cost his wicket at the 17th over. However, the last tai🅘l wagged 27 runs together to take England to 165/9 in 20 overs.

Similar to their counterparts, the hosts lost a couple of wickets early with Abhishek Sharma and Saඣnju Samson failing with the bat. The third wicket in the powerplay came in the form of captain Suryakumar Yadav but Tilak Varma’s attacking intent pushed India to 59/3 within the field restrictions. Subsequently, Dhruv Jurel and Hardik Pandya got out to Carse and Jamie Overton as India were reduced to 78/5. With the scoreboard reflecting 79/5 in ten overs, a couple of quiet overs followed before Washington Sundar freed his arms against Mark Wood in an 18-run 13th over. However, Carse returned to castle him in the next over as India lost half-a-dozen for 119 in 14 overs. Axar Patel in th🐽e following over before Arshdeep Singh assisted Tilak to 146/6 in 17 overs before holing out in the deep. With 20 needed from the last three overs, Tilak and Ravi Bishnoi earned seven runs off the over with a four off the latter’s bat. Surprisingly, Liam Livingstone operated the next over despite overs left off Jamie Overton and Mark Wood. After denying singles off the first two deliveries, Tilak rotated, making way for a four off Bishnoi helping them curtail the equation to run-a-ball in the last over. After a double on the first ball, Tilak drove a fuller one through the gates to seal the win and earn unwavering praise from the Indian dugout.
