‌WATCH, Super Smash | Joe Carter’s unfortunate hit wicket adds misery to Knights 

Canterbury won the toss and chose to bat first at the Hagley Oval in the mid-season match. The duo of Tom Latham and Chad Bowes failed to give them the perfect start after getting dismissed for single digits. But Matthew Boyle and Daryl Mitchelꦍl did exactly the opposite with the willow, as their 66 and 67 respectively added to their tally of 175 runs in 20 overs. In reply, Matt Henry gave them the start with the ball as always, by scalping Katene D Clarke. Joe Carter and Ben Pomare tried to play with caution in the chase but the former was outdone due to his error. 

Carter was on 17 off 16 balls when he tried to dab a back of a length delivery outside the stumps from over the wicket. The right-hander moved towards the line of th﷽e ball after triggering on the back foot and dabbed it lately towards close-up of point. But before the fielder could even reach to collect the ball, the sound of the bails flipping off was caught on the stump mic. Soon, Carter was taken aback by witnessing that he stepped on the stumps, leaving him hit wicket and gifting one scalp to the opposition.
