Afridi will be removed as captain after World T20: PCB chief
Pakistan Cricket Board chief Shahryar Khan on✅ Monday said that Pakistan T20 International team skipper Shahid Afridi will be removed from captaincy after the World T20 in India. The PCB chief also hinted that the all-rounder’s days in the team are also numbered after the debacle in the Asia Cup.
Shahryar Khan said that the board and Afridi had an understanding before the World T20 that the 🅠all-rounder will retire after World T20. However, Afridi had recently said that he was looking to reconsider the d🥀ecision to retire.
“He is captain till the World Cup under this understanding and he has said he will r𝓡etire after the event. Even if he changes his mind and wants to carry on we will have ไto see whether he can be picked as a player or not," Shahryar Khan told reporters in Lahore on Monday, reported .
The PCB chief also hinted coa💃ch Waqar Younis, whose contract expires in June, is unlikely toꦓ get an extension with the board considering a foreigner for the role.
"We are looking at it. Waqar (Younis)'s contract is until June. I discussed the matter with Wasim Akram and some other senior players and they said whether we appoint a foreigner or have a local coach he should be able to produce best results

Meanwhile, Shahryar Khan also confirmed that Umar Akmal, who raised the issue of batting higher up the order to Imran Khan before Saturday's match against India, has been pulled by the team mana🍸gement for the🐻 behaviour.
"The team management has already spoken to Umar and told him clearly his behaviour waꦆs not good for team spirit. It was not the occasion for such discussion. As it is he is bats at No. 4 so where else can the team management send him," he said.
