Virat Kohli bags Cricketer of the year for the second time in a row at BCCI Annual Awards
Virat Kohli has received the prestigious Polly Umrigar Trophy at BCCI Annual Award function for his prolific performance for the national team. Kohli is currently undergoing rehabil💞itation for a neck injury sustained during Indian Premier League and would be missin✤g the Test against Afghanistan.
Virat Kohli was the star attraction at the BCCI Annual Awards function on Tuesday as he received theဣ prestigious Polly Umrigar Tr𓃲ophy (Cricketer of the Year) award for the second consecutive seasons. The Indian skipper, who has been in prolific form, received the award for his stupendous performance during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons.
Kohli would not be taking part in the upcoming one-off Test match against Afghanistan and has been undergoing rehabilitation for a neck injury sustained during the IPL, which ruled him out of his much-debated County assignment for Surrey. Kohli would b♌e appearing for a fitness test at the NCA on June 15.
The key note address at the function for the MAK Pataudi Memorial lecture was delivered by Kevin Pietersen and the Awards function was also attended by the Afghanistan national team which would take on India in their first ever Test match, start🅺ing Thursday in Bengaluru.
Like every year, it was an event where the cricketers of previous generations and current generations came together for a wonderful evening. Anshuman Gaekwad and Sudha Shah received the CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement awar🌺d.
The domestic cricketers got their due recognition as Jalaj Saxena, Parvez Rasool, and Krunal Pandya were all rewarded for their consistent domestic performances. Saxena and Rasool were adjudged Best All Rounders in Ranji Trophy while Krunal was rewarded for h🀅is performance i🌠n the Vijay Hazare one-day championship.
However, Krunal did not turn up to receive the award as he has l🃏eft for the tour of England with the India A team.
