While the rules around the concussion substitute have been quite♏ clear, there sometimes are not enough playe🐎rs in the matchday squad to allow a ‘like for like’ substitute. In the India-England match in Pune, Harshit Rana came on for Shivam Dube and claimed the wicket of Liam Livingstone.

India found themselves behind the eight ball after scoring a sub par 181 in the first innings of the fourth T20I in Pune. Nothi💃ng seemed to be going India’s way as the visitors piled on 62/1 in the powerplay. However, with the spinners coming in, England lost wickets in a bunch as the next nine balls yielded the wickets of Phit Salt and Jos Buttler. However, England looked solid with Livingstone and Harry Brook looking comfortable.

But India playing against England without any drama seemed very unlikely.ꦚ With Shivam Dube not taking the field after taking a hit to the helmet in the last over, India brought on Harshit Rana as a “like for like” substitutౠe. While England did not seem too happy with the decision, more misery was piled on when Rana was handed the ball for the first time in T20I cricket in the 12th over.

On the secon🐬d ball of his first over in T20I cricket, Rana bowled a 140.7kph short of length ball outside off stump that Livingstone tried to guide towards third man. The ball caught the edge of the bat and ended up in the hands of💟 Samson behind the stumps.

While🐽 the debate around whether not Rana was truly eligible raged on, the pacer and Indian Twitter were not bothered as they celebrated the all important wicket.
