‌BBL 14 | Warner signs up multi-year contract deal with Sydney Thunder

⛄Australian veteran David Warner has signed a two-year contract with the Sydney Thunder for the upcoming season of the Big Bash League (BBL). This will be the first time he will be available for the Men in Lime Green throughout the competition, courtesy of his international retirement.

💖The southpaw played just eight games in the last couple of editions, which came after a nine-year gap due to international commitments for Australia. Generally, the BBL clashes with Australia’s Test summer, leaving the centrally contracted cricketers busy in red-ball cricket.

🎃"Davey is popular wherever he plays, right around the world, particularly in India and I know the South Asian communities in Sydney's west will get right behind him at Thunder," Trent Copeland, general manager of the Thunder expressed.

🐓"In Davey, we get a world-class talent with almost 20 years of T20 experience and now that he has retired from international cricket, we can count on his full focus and commitment for the entire tournament, including the finals.” he further added.

𒀰Apart from Warner, Steve Smith has signed a three-year deal with Sydney Sixers while  Marnus Labuschagne and Alex Carey have re-signed with Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers respectively.

🃏"Alex brings great experience and strong leadership to our group in addition to his 360-degree batting skills and outstanding glovework," Paine, head coach of Adelaide Strikers said. "A favourite among Strikers fans, he is a proven big-game player and a crucial part of our squad which is keen to hit the ground running in BBL 2024-25."

💮The Thunder finished at the bottom of the league table with four points from fourteen matches in the previous edition.
