𒉰A calm and composed mind always helps an individual get the edge in any kind of contest. It seemed to be Spencer Johnson’s day right from the start of the tenth match of the 2025 Champions Trophy between Afghanistan and Australia, with the pacer enforcing a smart runout after a couple of scalps.

♒The toss belonged to the Afghanistan captain as Hashmatullah Shahidi decided to bat first and defended total. Although Rahmanullah Gurbaz was cleaned up in the first over by Johnson, Ibrahim Zadran’s start and Sediqullah Atal’s mesmerising 85 laid the foundation for a formidable total before Australian bowlers and fielding brilliance pulled things in their favour with Spencer running out Nabi being the highlight of all.

ꦉOn the fifth ball of the 37th over, Johnson bowled a short ball over the stumps that Nabi intended to pull but ended up getting beaten on the outside edge. The wicketkeeper, Josh Inglis, failed to grab the ball neatly and parried to his left, and the Afghan pair tried to sneak a bye. In the process, Nabi was sent back midway through the strip by Omarzai, and the oldest player in the tourney was tasked to reach the ground. Meanwhile, Johnson ambled towards the striker’s end, grabbed Inglis’ throw, and broke the stumps even before Nabi could drag the willow. The fact that Johnson was cautious about the need to be near the striker’s end and effect the runout, welcomed applause from the Twitterverse.

Ooops!!

Are You Sure!
